Hi, I’m Sourabh Saini, a Grade 11 student at ASOSE School, and an aspiring javelin thrower with big dreams...
Not reaching the nationals wasn’t a dead end—it was a detour. I’m now training at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, fine-tuning my throws, building my strength, and preparing for what’s next. My mission? To ace the state level next year, qualify for nationals, and step closer to a career in athletics.
Javelin throwing has taught me that success isn’t just about medals—it's about resilience, hard work, and staying inspired. Neeraj Chopra once sparked my passion, and now I hope to do the same for others. With each throw, I’m not just aiming for distance—I’m aiming for dreams, mine and everyone watching. The road ahead is long, but one thing’s certain: I’m ready to throw everything I’ve got into it—quite literally.
My journey began with a spark of inspiration from none other than Neeraj Chopra, whose extraordinary feats in javelin left me in awe. That spark turned into action, and on 12th September 2024, I stood on the podium at Tyagraj Stadium, Delhi, clutching a Gold medal from the Zonal-level competition. That moment wasn’t just about the win—it was a loud, clear message to myself: this is just the beginning.
After the zonal win, I set my sights on the State-level competition at Chhatrasal Stadium on 8th November 2024. To qualify, I had to hit a 40-meter throw—a milestone I was thrilled to achieve. The competition was fierce, and despite my best efforts, four phenomenal athletes outperformed me. I didn’t make it to nationals, but instead of defeat, I walked away with lessons: grit beats regret, and every setback is a setup for a comeback..
